National genomic test directory
Our laboratories deliver the national genomic test directory for the North West, covering cancer, haematology and oncology, rare disease and pharmacogenomics. Where testing is delivered at fewer than seven hubs nationally, a sample is referred to the appropriate centre under NHS England’s arrangements.
DPYD testing
DPYD testing helps identify patients at risk of severe toxicity before treatment with fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy. In September 2025 we wrote to clinical teams about improvements to the DPYD testing service.

Haematology and oncology
Our haematology service reports myeloid and lymphoid gene panels, fusion detection, MRD monitoring, cytogenetics and FISH, and germline predisposition testing, in line with the national test directory. Pharmacogenomic testing for TPMT and NUDT15 is available for paediatric and adult acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

Turnaround times
Our laboratories aim to report all genomic tests within the NHS England genomic test reporting time guidelines. Please note that reporting times can vary when further work, such as a multidisciplinary review, is needed.
Queries and feedback
The laboratory can provide advice on any scientific and technical issues. Please contact the appropriate testing laboratory by telephone or email, and our feedback and complaints procedure explains what to do if something has gone wrong.
